VINTAGE CHAIR .... needs a facelift

Okay, I'm needin' help from all of you creative folks.  I love, love, love this old chair that I found on a recent pick.  I've brought her home and set her in my living room, and just cannot decide what I should do to bring her back to life.  Please give me some ideas.  I think I'd like to leave the wood dark, but I know it'd look great painted too.  IDEAS PLEASE.  I'm waiting for your help before I take her to the upholsterer.

THANKS,  ALL Y'ALL.

  1. Well it's very pretty as is. I can't tell how worn the fabric is. If you are going to keep the dark wood it might look better with a brighter floral pattern. Good Job Pickin!!

  2. I imagine it's a comfy chair! I could see it as is or chalk painted white.

  3. I would give her a painted Frenchy look. Mixing chalk paint in grey and blue, then some dark ageing wax and some distressing. I would dress her in either a stripe with one of the colors to match the paint or what about a linen cream or blue - grey fabric with a French design transferred to the seat and the back rest?

Have fun with it....she is a beauty!:)

  6. The Chair is amazing. I love it LOTS !!!!! When I first saw it .. I saw a silvery grey with White painted wood with a hint of silver washed in there. GORGEOUS ...then I took another look and saw BURLAP ..Dark wood and like a french stamp on it ..or a crown on the back or front.........LOTS of things you can do to that chair. I watched a tutorial tonight on painting the fabric..with some ann sloan paint and sanding it smooth and they looked amazing........Sherry @ THe Rusty Pearl

    1. Thanks Sherry. GREAT IDEAS. After posting a pic of the chair on Facebook, it's gotten so much attention, I think it may sell, as is, before I have the opportunity to do anything to it myself. THANKS AGAIN. 8-)
