REMOVING OLD CONTACT PAPER

Have you ever purchased an old piece of furniture and it had ancient contact paper on the shelves??  It is nearly impossible to get that 'stuff' off.  Or, at least I thought it was.  I picked and pulled and scraped 

 and fussed and cussed and scraped some more..................

 and STILL, I had paper that REFUSED to come off.  Sooooo, what do we do these days?  Go to the Internet, where I Googled 'remove old contact paper'. 

 And, the solution was super simple.  Click below to see how really simple it was.

 A blow dryer??  Yes, that's all ya need.  Just heat a small area at a time, then scrape........and repeat until all is gone.

 Oh, and something to scrape with helps.  I couldn't find anything, so ended up using a butter knife.  Buy, hey, it worked.

 There ya go.  All gone.

 And, believe or not, I scrubbed the entire piece BEFORE these pictures.  It still looks awful, but not for long.  Some homemade chalk paint and new hardware and she'll be a cutie, for sure.

Oh, and I had holes drilled into the back for cords.  I plan to keep this piece and it'll house my microwave, toaster, and who knows what else??
