BACK FROM THE WOODWORKER'S SHOP
Okay, I've just gotten back from my woodworker's shop with the reproductions of the ORIGINAL antique bed shown in THIS POST.
He did a GREAT job.
He even found some of the old style hardware for the rails. UNBELIVEABLE!!!
Noooo, I didn't even seal the wood first.......just started to paint
I start by painting pink, but not too solid since this is the UNDERcoat. My client wants the finished product to be mostly TURQUOISE.
Now, for the rails.
I didn't have to paint them so completely..........but, hey, the paint was in the roller already.
Well, here she is, ready for the next step. Hopefully, I'll have pics of the finished product soon.
Ya'll come back to check it out.
Thanks,
8-)

ANTIQUE YOUTH BED
Just gotta show you my recent score from a local estate auction. Isn't it precious? It's a youth bed. A standard baby bed mattress fits it perfectly. I think she's probably from the late 1800's to the early 1900's.
All I did to it was rub a little stain all over to bring it back to life.
I had TWO mattresses on it BEFORE selling another youth bed, and it looked much prettier. But still, it got soooo much attention from my customers that I took it down, loaded it back into my truck, and took it to my favorite woodworker man (read about him HERE), and asked if he might could reproduce the bed for me.

REMOVING OLD CONTACT PAPER
Have you ever purchased an old piece of furniture and it had ancient contact paper on the shelves?? It is nearly impossible to get that 'stuff' off. Or, at least I thought it was. I picked and pulled and scraped
and fussed and cussed and scraped some more..................
and STILL, I had paper that REFUSED to come off. Sooooo, what do we do these days? Go to the Internet, where I Googled 'remove old contact paper'.
And, the solution was super simple. Click below to see how really simple it was.

Lil RED Shelf
No 'before' pictures of this one, but you can imagine. It was just that early American maple wood that was so popular back in the...what?? 70's maybe? Anyway, it needed a little updating. So, since this piece just shouts kitchen to me, I thought she should be red. Well, isn't red popular in kitchens right now.
I used my chalk paint recipe mentioned in this POST. And, painted this lil piece just as I did the table in this POST.
Looks like the perfect place to stash your cookbooks...and recipe cards can go in the drawer below. It's divided and just the right size for those cards. Does anyone even use cookbooks or recipe cards anymore with all the recipes out there on the web?? Well, I still have a few that are special, so maybe someone else will too. I thought it turned out cute. What cha think?
