STENCILING ON FABRIC

Yesterday, I gave directions for painting this lil girl.  Click HERE for that tutorial.  And, today, I'll show how I redid the seat.

For SEAT DIRECTIONS, click below.

After stretching and stapling the burlap over the original padded seat, I gathered tools to stencil the corner designs.  Any stiff bristle brush will do if you don't have a stencil brush.  I used black acrylic paint and an old egg carton for my paint pallet.  Paper towels, of course, are a must.
Squeeze just a lil bit of the paint into one of the egg cups.  Dip the brush in......and then brush most of the paint OFF onto the paper towel, leaving very little paint IN the brush.   Place your stencil onto the fabric.  And, if you're not as impatient as I am, use a little masking tape to hold the stencil in place (works much better than MY way).  Then lightly POUNCE the brush, up and down,  in the open areas of the stencil you've chosen, until the entire area is covered.  Lift, then reposition the stencil in the next corner.  Reload your brush with black paint, and AGAIN, brush MOST of the paint OFF onto the paper towel.  I did this in all four corners.

And, TaaaaDaaaa......finished seat.

To clean the stencil, wipe, using a little alcohol on a paper towel.  Then it's as good as new.

Reattach the seat with screws from the underside.

Add a cushion made by Gina at The Shabby Creek Cottage, and I think she turned out to be pretty as pie.  What cha think?

Thanks for checkin back in to see the finished product.  See ya'll back here soon.  8-)

  8. Thanks so much for joining Show & Tell! Glad to have you. Adding a stencil to the seat was a very creative touch. The black really works with the burlap and color of the chair; which I love. I'm looking forward to following you to see what else you pick and paint.
